RESCUE workers have taken more than an hour to free a woman whose hand was trapped in a meat mincer at a bucher's shop in Sydney's southwest.

Paramedics administered painkillers as the fire brigade dismantled the machine at the Cronulla shop on Thursday afternoon, the Ambulance Service of NSW said.

The woman suffered multiple fractures and cuts,  and was admitted to Sydney Hospital in a stable condition.
