Tyson employee loses arm USA

 June 18, 2013

A Tyson’s employee lost his arm in an industrial accident occurring around 4:25 p.m. Monday at the plant on South Main Street in Hutchinson, according to Hutchinson Police Lt. John Moore.

A medical helicopter landed near the Tyson plant and took the injured man to Via Christi’s St. Francis campus, Wichita. A hospital spokesman Monday night listed the man’s condition as “critical.”

The identity of the worker was not available, and Tyson’s office was closed.

According to Moore, the employee’s arm was caught in a conveyor belt, and the belt pulled him into the machine. He lost his arm from about the elbow down, Moore said.
