Two Bakers Creek abattoir workers in hospital for inhaling ammonia fumes

TWO men working at an abattoir at Bakers Creek, south of Mackay, were taken to hospital this morning after inhaling ammonia fumes.

Paramedics were called to the scene just before 7am today.

The men are thought to have inhaled ammonia leaking from refrigeration at the plant.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the pair was taken to hospital as a precaution.
