HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - Firefighters were able to keep flames from destroying an Ottawa County meat packing plant this morning.
The fire started around 7:30 at West Michigan Beef, located on Van Buren Street, near Chicago Drive in Hudsonville
The fire chief says a worker using a blow torch sparked the fire, when he set the torch down near flammables. A small propane tank exploded and sent fire into an addition in the back of the old building as well as the attic.
The USDA is on the scene and they will determine if the meat packing plant can re-open today.
