ABC News - Tuesday Aug 17, 2010

More than 200 people have been evacuated from factories at Thomastown, in Melbourne's north, because of an ammonia leak.

The fire brigade says the leak occurred at the PJ Meats plant, in High Street, just after 11:00am.

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and WorkSafe are at the scene.

The cause of the leak is unknown and the fire brigade is urging people to avoid travelling in the area.

There have been no reports of injuries.
